Chinese Journal of Infection Control (ISSN 1671-9638,CN 43-1390/R;Code number 42-203) is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of China, and sponsored by Central South University (Xiangya Hospital ), it is a publicly published national-level journal, the main contents include the research achievements and experience in theory and practice of infectious diseases, scientific research, medical teaching , and infection control and management. The Journal aims to improve the comprehensive knowledge and technique of clinicians and infection control professionals . Contributions from clinicians, nurses, technicians, professionals in healthcare-associated infection surveillance and control management, professionals in epidemiological research, as well as professionals in disinfection and sterilization are sincerely welcome. The followings contributions will be given priority in processing and publication: contributions on subjects funded by the National or Provincial Natural Science Foundation of China will be published within months 6 or less.
1 The columns of the Journal include original article, specialist forum, clinical and laboratory research, case report, review article, translated article, experience communication, and academic trends both at home and abroad.
2 The scope of articles : Diagnosis, therapeutic experience and research achievement in infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections and community-associated infections, clinical antimicrobial use, disinfection and sterilization, clinical microbiology, and hospital hygiene management.
3 Manuscript requirements: Manuscripts submitted to the Journal should meet the following standards: The material is original, scientific, feasible, and readable, viewpoint is definite, information is reliable, words are concise, structure is rational, data are accurate, handwriting is clear, statistical analysis can be made if necessary. National legal measurement unit should be used. According to academic standard, the detailed requirement should be as follows:
3.1 Title The title should be as short and informative as possible, it should include both Chinese and English title .
3.2 Author and institution The full names and affiliations of all authors should be listed following the title , the name of authors’ institution, province, city and post code should be listed.
3.3 Abstract Chinese abstract is no more than 200 words, which includes objective,methods,results and conclusion. Original article, clinical and laboratory research should be affiliated English abstract. English abstract should include English title, names , institution, city, and post code of all authors.
3.4 Key words The chosen key words should reflect the theme of the article . Original article, clinical and experiment research should list 3-8 key words .
3.5 Format and structure of text: Including introduction, material(subject) and method, result, and discussion. Arabic numerals should be applied at each level. The first, second, third and fourth level title is written as 1, 1.1, 1.1.1 , and 1.1.1.1 respectively. Not numerals, two character-space must be left at the beginning of every paragraph of an article. to leave space at the beginning of each title, one character-space should be left after each
3.6 Figures and tables The data needn’t be repeated in the text if tables and figures are applied, and only the main content is explained in the text. Three-line table should be used, table and figure should be printed on white paper, the ratio of height to width is 5:7. The explanation of figure should be concise and coincide with text. The figure and table should be inserted after the according text, and can’t be concentrated at the end of text. The title of table and figure should be translated into English.
3.7 References Only published literatures may be cited in the reference, references should be cited in numerical order as they appear in text . Listing all authors when three or fewer, when four or more, list only first three and add et al . The abbreviation of foreign periodicals follows Index Medicus, Chinese journal use full name. If reference is periodical, it should list authors, title, name of periodical, year of publication, volume(issue), numbers of starting and ending pages; if the reference is book, it should list authors, name of book, volume (issue), edition(the initial edition can be omitted), published place and agent, year of publication, numbers of starting and ending pages; if the reference is article in a monograph, it should list authors, title of the article, compiler of the monograph, name of monograph, volume (issue), edition, published place and agent, year of publication, numbers of starting and ending pages.
4 Submission of a manuscript should attach: The recommendationof institution, which attests that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere , it isn’t involved the issue of maintaining secrecy,and there is no controversy over the authors’ right. If the contribution on subject is funded by national-level, provincial-level and ministry-level foundations, please note at the bottom of the first page, and send the copy of certification of foundation.
5 One original and one copy including figures and tables are required for submission, and typed on one side of A4 size white paper (1.5-fold space between lines); Manuscripts can also be submitted online at:www.zggrkz.com. 6 The author will be informed whether the manuscript is accepted or withdrawn within 3 months of being received by the editorial office, and if accepted, the reviewer’s comments and suggestion will be sent to the author, if author aren’t informed, please consult editorial office.
7 Corresponding author should take all responsibility to ensure that the submitted manuscripts are properly prepared in all aspects. According to Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China, the House reserve the right to modify or delete the words of manuscript ,the modification of the contents shall be in possession of the license of authors.
8 Please revise the manuscript according to the reviewer’s comment, the revised article should be sent to the House of Journal by E-mail in the format of Word, the original manuscript and revised manuscript should be sent back together to the House of Journal.

Publication Policy, Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Chinese Journal of Infection Control is committed to following best practices on ethical matters, and abiding by ethical standards on human experimentation and the Declaration of Helsinki. The prevention of publication malpractice is one of the important responsibilities of the editorial board. Any kind of unethical behavior is unacceptable. It is necessary for all parties involved in the publishing, the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer and the publisher, to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior.
1. Author's responsibilities
(1) All persons designated as authors must participate sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for its contents. Authorship should be limited to those who have contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors, others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.
(2) Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works. All data in article are authentic. Authors of articles of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed, as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
(3) The author is obliged to provide a retraction or correction of mistakes, when he/she discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work. It is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
(4) If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
(5) All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest which might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
(6) Authors must avoid plagiarism and fraudulent data.
(7) Authors are forbidden from publishing the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
(8) Authors are obliged to participate in peer review process.
2. Reviewers’ responsibilities
(1) Reviewers should act in a balanced, objective and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political belief, and ethnic or geographical origin of the authors. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
(2) Reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders. Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
(3) Reviewers should point out relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper.
(4) Reviewed articles must be treated confidentially, they must not be shown to or discussed with others, except as authorized by the editor. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
(5) Peer reviewer assists the editor, the editor-in-chief and the editorial board in making editorial decisions, and through the editorial communications with the author, may also assist the author in improving the paper.
(6) Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the assigned manuscript or unable to provide a prompt review should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
3. Editors’ responsibilities
(1) Editors have complete responsibilities and authority to reject/accept an article. Editors at Chinese Journal of Infection Control are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published, and editors only accept a paper when reasonably certain of its positive value. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
(2) Editors should have no conflict of interest with the respects to articles they reject/accept.
(3) When errors are found, prompt publication of correction or retraction is necessary.
(4) Editors should preserve anonymity of reviewers.
(5) The editor and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
(6) Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the written consent of the author.
(7) Submissions for sponsored supplements or special issues should be handled in the same way as other submissions, so that articles are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit and without commercial influence.
(8) Editors should adopt and follow reasonable procedures in the event of complaints of an ethical or conflicting nature, and give authors a reasonable opportunity to respond to any complaints. All complaints should be investigated no matter when the original publication was approved. Documentation associated with any such complaints will be retained.
4. Publishing ethics issues and statement of informed consent
Authors should ensure that any studies involving human or animal subjects conform to national, local and institutional laws and requirements, and confirm that approval has been sought and obtained where appropriate. Evidence for approval by a local ethics committee (for both human as well as animal studies) must be supplied by the authors on demand.
When reporting studies on human subjects (patients), the author should ensure that the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that the appropriate institutional committees have approved them. Authors should obtain express permission from human subjects and respect their privacy, obtain informed consent from human subjects, do not use patients’ names, initials, especially in illustrative material. Identifying information should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, and pedigrees, unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent or guardian) gives written informed consent for publication. Informed consent for this purpose requires that the patient be shown the manuscript to be published.
If the work involves the use of animal, the author should indicate whether the institutional or a national research council’s guide for, or any national law on the care and use of laboratory animals was followed. Animal experimental procedures should be as humane as possible and the details of anesthetics and analgesics used should be clearly stated.
The ethical standards of experiments must be in accordance with the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China’s Guiding Principles for the Use of Animals in Experimental Research, as well as the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki on ethical principles for medical research involving experimental animals and human beings. The journal will not consider any paper which is ethically unacceptable. A statement on ethics committee permission and ethical practices must be included in all research articles.
